As many enthusiasts know, most of the recent performance increased realized in NHRA ProStock and NASCAR have come from camshaft design improvements. The ability to maintain valve control without damaging delicate valvetrain components at higher and higher RPM has added considerable HP these engines with greater reliability than seen with older, more-traditional camshaft lobe configurations.

Since cylinder head development and engine building / testing comprise the bulk of our business here at Endyn, we've been able to test almost every factory and aftermarket camshaft available for the Honda B series engines. Cam test programs have included considerable dyno time, real-world street and track, and camshaft lobe analysis using equipment that measures to .01 degree and .00001" lobe and valve lift. Our testing has also included cam, valve, valve spring, retainer, spring seat, rocker arm, and cam belt durability with various lobe designs.

We've identified a number of lobe traits that are major contributors to valvetrain failure and we spent 18 months configuring lobes that net significant area under the valve lift curve, while reducing harmonics that break cams and cause reduced life in all the other related components. This has been of primary concern, because most of you know that any valvetrain failure, especially at high-RPM can destroy expensive heads, pistons, and entire engines.

Our Bump-Stix incorporate the latest technology in lobe design, offering smooth opening and closing ramps for maximum valve spring life, lobe widths that take full advantage of rocker-arm pad widths for decreased loading / wear, and OE camshaft production quality.

 

 

Computerized equipment in Endyn's camshaft analysis center is used to study and develop cam profiles, as well as insuring the manufacturing accuracy of every camshaft we use and sell.
